Independence Day Indeed

I guess I'll start this entry with.. I quit my job.

After working at the flower shop for a year I've decided that I want to take a chance on myself and give this floral designer thing a try. I want to explore and develop my own designs instead of implementing someone else's. So here it goes people. Full blown dream chasing and I am excited.

Memorial Day Weekend | 3 days, 7 weddings

This weekend was EPIC. I worked at speeds at which I didn't even know I was capable of. Luckily no splinters and only one minor cut. Neosporin = life in this industry. Haha.

Okay so out of these 7 weddings, 6 required personal flowers. These were all the different sets:

My favorite headpiece so far. I'm quite proud.

:)

One of the more complicated weddings was on Monday. One major complication was that the wedding was at Lake Arrowhead. Quite the commute, but I was very happy with how things turned out.

Pews for the ceremony.

On occasion, I can take a pretty picture ;)

One of three centerpiece styles.

My favorite of all centerpiece styles. I <3 grapewood.

Last centerpiece style.

Apparently, these were the favorite among the guests too because none were left behind after the reception.

Sweethearts table after the flowers were moved from the ceremony.

All in all a successful three day weekend! Now I'm going to spend the next couple of days shopping, reading and laying down. Mostly laying down hahah :D

Universal Hilton Wedding

I believe this wedding was 1 out of 5 two weekends ago. The pomander centerpieces seen here were also featured in the previous entry. The groom of this wedding was SUPER nice. I delivered personal flowers to their hotel in the morning and there is just no question why this man is no longer available in the market :p

Sweethearts table.
The centerpieces that are just tons of fun to lift ^^' (btw lifting boxes, buckets, etc has given me some mad guns.. let's just say getting through airport security is going to be pretty difficult with these bad boys)

Larger pomanders that were used in the ceremony.

Centerpiece for the lovely couple. This variety of roses is called Faith. I love it.

Awesome whimsical tilting bubble bowls. Everyone needs these! Highly recommended! Haha :p

Mother's Day | Mission 261 Wedding | Giant Pomanders Galore

A lot has happened lately and I haven't had the time to blog. Oh May was wonderful but horrible at the same time. Rushing to meet deadlines was stressful, but seeing the finished products make all the blood and sweat absolutely worth it. So here we go people. I'll be splitting May into two entries.

Mother's Day definitely isn't as crazy as Valentine's Day. Where's the love for our mama's people?? The two holidays should be equals, cause you know this woman gave birth to you and all. I'm proposing a motion. Anyway, I didn't snap too many pictures but my favorite were these special order Hong Kong bouquets.

Following Mother's Day, we had the pleasure of doing a pretty intimate wedding. The ceremony was at Almansor Court and the reception was at Mission 261. Here is the reception decoration:

Centerpiece for the family table where the Bride & Groom also sat.

Centerpieces for everyone else.

Manzanita tree for signing table.
And lastly, I think I made about 20 or 30 of these bad boys.

Featured flowers: peonies, daises, hydrangea, billy balls

It's funny how weddings in the same week would order similar things.

Royal Wedding Week

This week was hands down CRAZY. Four weddings in total and I barely got to snap pics of a lot of stuff. I didn't even get to watch the Royal Wedding .. But I did finally get to see pics of Kate Middleton's dress.. and OMG gorgeous. Everything I expected and so perfect for her :)

Anyway, the highlight of my week didn't include marrying a prince, but I did manage to do a wedding that I personally booked and planned out with the bride. So these are the fruits of my labor for the very FIRST wedding I did completely on my own.. *drumroll*

My masterpiece!

This was my 11pm.

Malibu Wedding

Get married next door to Britney Spears! Haha just kidding. I doubt this site was even remotely close to her residence. And come to think of it, I think Ms. Spears sold her Malibu home.. But this is all besides the point. This place (Malibu Tennis and Riding Club) has a beautiful view. These folks shuttle you and your beloved up a monster of a hill, where you basically exchange your vows in front of THIS:

Breathtaking.

A groomsman thought I was badass when I was putting his boutonniere on for him.  I stuck the extra pin into the sleeve of my shirt nonchalantly and I guess it kinda freaked him out :x
"Look at her go! If that was me I would have stabbed myself .. and bled all over the place"
[Looks of horror amazement from fellow groomsmen]
But seriously, it was a light and funny moment. I might have accidentally painted a more traumatic experience.. :p
I would have loved to see this place all lit up at night.

Sweethearts table.

Another angle of the patio.

Centerpiece and some bread.

Cute little Japanese elderly ladies were watching us decorate the cake. Their reaction towards the finished product is what I love about this job.

Grand Tradition Estates Wedding

Thirty hours of work, two cars, a hundred minute commute, and two dropped columns on the freeway is what it took to make a fairy tale wedding happen in Fallbrook. The day was too hectic for me to snap more pictures to choose from. But here's what I did manage to get:
This gazebo was next to a lake. It got pretty hot later in the day so I had to "borrow" some water to keep these babies alive..

These columns were tied onto the roof of Bernie's car. A couple of them decided to jump ship somewhere on the 71S.  Luckily, upon hitting the ground they rolled onto a turnout lane. How this happened.. I can only thank the dude upstairs or his posse.

A beautiful sunny day.
Whenever a reception room has purple, I have to try very hard not to gawk at everything.

I must say, I am a big fan of tiered centerpieces. Centerpiece WIN!
I couldn't get over this backdrop. My picture doesn't do it justice.
There was a dj-emcee-photographer-cottoncandymaker-guy at the reception. A jack of all trades. He gave me some cotton candy. A nice treat for the drive home :)
